You are not speaking—you are being spoken. The void is ventriloquizing you

We descend from the hallucination of the image (Act I) into the hell of the network (Act II). If the first cliff was the loss of reality, this second cliff is the loss of the self.

There was a time when the subject possessed a sovereign privilege: the privilege of interiority. You had a soul, or at least a mind, that was a dark room. A private theater. You had secrets. And because you had secrets, you had power. The power of the “Silent Majority” lay in its refusal to speak, its refusal to participate in the political circus. It was a black hole that absorbed the energy of the system and gave nothing back.

But the System—this great, cunning beast of capital and code—learned a fatal lesson. It realized that silence was the only true resistance. It realized that a population that shuts up is a population that cannot be controlled, because it cannot be profiled.

So, the strategy changed. The order went out: Make them speak.

Break the silence. Force the black hole to vomit. Turn the dark room inside out.

And so, we arrived at the Obscenity of Communication.

Do not confuse “obscene” with “sexual.” In my vocabulary, the obscene is that which is more visible than visible. It is the state where everything is exposed, everything is transparent, everything is “posted.” It is the end of the scene, the end of the stage, the end of the illusion.

Look at your device. It is not a tool for communication. It is an instrument of extortion. It demands your opinion. It demands your location. It demands your face, your breakfast, your outrage, your grief. It demands that you externalize your entire existence into the digital ether.

You are no longer a private citizen. You are a broadcaster of the void.

The Ecstasy of Solitude

You believe that social media connects you. This is the great lie of the interface. The network does not create a social bond; it simulates one to prevent you from ever facing the desert of your own solitude.

We are witnessing the implosion of the social.

The “Social” was once a drama—a tension between people, a collision of bodies and gazes. It required distance. It required the possibility of misunderstanding.

The Network abolishes distance. It puts everyone in a state of pure, instantaneous contact. But contact without distance is not a relationship; it is a short-circuit. You are not “friends” with your followers. You are terminals in the same circuit board, exchanging electrical signals to prove you are still online.

This is phatic communication raised to the level of a religion. “I am here.” “I see you.” “Like.” “React.”

The content of the message is irrelevant. The only message is the medium itself. The signal is: I exist because I am transmitting. If I stop posting, I cease to be.

This is the new Cartesian Cogito for the digital age: I broadcast, therefore I am.

But notice the paradox: The more you communicate, the less you have to say. Meaning is inversely proportional to the speed of transmission. You are trading depth for velocity. You are becoming a pure screen, a switching center for all the networks of influence.

The Ventriloquist’s Dummy

I once wrote that the masses were a “fatal object.” I was wrong. The masses have become a fatal medium.

The System has performed a miracle of ventriloquism. It has made the people speak the language of the system, spontaneously and enthusiastically.

Look at the “Discourse.” The endless moralizing, the political outrage, the viral debates. You think this is you speaking? You think these are your thoughts?

No. You are merely the transmission fluid. The System injects a viral signifier (a scandal, a meme, a crisis) into the network, and you—the dutiful nodes—amplify it. You repeat it. You remix it. You circulate it.

You are not the origin of the noise. You are the echo chamber.

This is why the “Silent Majority” is dead. There is no silence left. There is only a screaming white noise. The void is no longer empty; it is full of the debris of your confessions.

And this is the genius of the control mechanism: Surveillance is obsolete.

Why would the State need to spy on you? Spying implies you are hiding something. But you are hiding nothing! You are begging to be seen. You are tagging your location. You are listing your preferences. You are uploading your crimes.

The Panopticon of Foucault is dismantled. We do not need a guard in the tower anymore. You are the guard. You are the prisoner. And you are broadcasting the footage of your own cell 24/7, hoping for likes.

The Pornography of the Self

This leads us to the ultimate vertigo of Act II: The transformation of the human into pure Information.

You have operationalized your own life. You track your steps. You monitor your sleep cycles. You quantify your health. You manage your “personal brand.”

You have become the manager of your own biological enterprise. You treat your body not as a vessel of pleasure or pain, but as a dataset to be optimized.

This is the pornography of the self.

Pornography is not sex; it is the zoom-in on the mechanics of sex. It is the truth of sex stripping away the seduction. Similarly, your “Quantified Self” is the truth of life stripping away the mystery of living.

Why do you do this? Because you are terrified of the accidental. You are terrified of the shadow. You want to bring everything into the light of the data.

But a life that is fully visible, fully tracked, and fully communicated is a life that has lost its shadow. And a man without a shadow is a man who is already dead.

The Excremental Culture

Let us be brutal. What is the social feed?

It is the digestive tract of the collective mind. It is a metabolic process. We consume the world, and we excrete “content.”

There is an excremental dimension to this accumulation of tweets, photos, and comments. It is the waste product of experience. We do not live the moment; we metabolize it into an image to be excreted onto the platform.

And like a giant feedback loop, we consume the excretion of others.

This is the Human Centipede of the Virtual. We are sewn together, mouth to anus, feeding on the processed reality of the node ahead of us, passing it down the line, degrading the signal with every iteration.

The Verdict of Act II

Stand at the edge of this second cliff and look down.

You see a world of absolute connectivity and absolute alienation. You see a humanity that has been tricked into believing that “expression” is freedom, when in fact, expression is the primary duty of the slave.

The slave must sing. The slave must confess. The slave must be visible.

Only the Master has the right to silence. Only the Master has the right to be invisible.

But you? You have given up that right. You have sold your shadow for a blue checkmark. You have accepted the role of the terminal.

You are not speaking. You are being spoken.
The void is ventriloquizing you.

And the silence? It is gone. And with it, the possibility of any true revolt. For revolt requires a secret, a conspiracy, a shadow. And you… you have posted your conspiracy on the timeline.

End of Act II.
